Alex Reznikova

Alex Reznikova, a master of artifacts and an exceptional artist, has journeyed a long and winding road in her creative career. Her story began in distant Russia back in Soviet times and came full circle, acquiring meanings, symbols and mythology along the way. She started out as a stained glass artist, then became a theater decorator, icon painter and fresco artist, only to return to her first love - creating stained glass and artifacts.

Alex was born in 1966 in Kharkov into a creative family, her father was a film director and her mother was an assistant director in a theater. Growing up surrounded by sets, props, false crowns, costumes and miles of celluloid film, Alex's artistic path was almost predetermined. As a child, she played at the editing table while her father selected music for his films, and later she began painting angels and saints high under the church dome.

After graduating from art school in Stained Glass in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg), where her father worked at a film studio, Alex worked in the theater's decorating workshop. Later she moved to Moscow and entered into an icon painting collective, devoting 25 years to creating numerous iconostases, church paintings and individual icons. Her works can be found in churches in Moscow, other regions and private collections.

In 2018, Alex began a new chapter by moving to the Netherlands and settling in the small village of Santpoort in the municipality of Velsen. Here she started working in a stained glass studio and began creating her unique art projects known as "Artifacts". She also continues to paint and create digital art.

What's next for Alex? Combining painting and drawing, glass and lead, color and light, holiness and sexuality, legend and reality, her work is a dynamic mixture of diverse elements. We are witnessing the emergence of a unique creative personality in real time.

Come explore her art and form your own opinion about this exciting artistic journey.

25 year journey of icon painting

"This period of life was so interesting also because there was a creative realization, and all this was filled with the highest meaning. That is from morning until evening I painted Angels of the Saints, the Mother of God and God.
That is, you were in this context all the time."
